[SEMCO] Free March Programs at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary

Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is pleased to invite you
to a slate of free adult and children's programming this March.
Every Tuesday, 10 - 11 a.m.
Feeder Central: Converse with a naturalist and spy on the birds at our
feeders while enjoying coffee and pastries inside the nature center.
Every Wednesday, 10 - 11 a.m.
Walk and Talk: Chat with a naturalist while enjoying the beauty of our
walking trails and a breath of fresh air. Dress in layers and wear
comfortable footwear. Backpack babies welcome.
Saturday, March 12
Celebration Saturday: Puddle Jumpers
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Leaping into the Future: Xenopus frogs as a model for
human health research (Adults)
Dr. Joshua Hamilton, chief academic and scientific officer at the Marine
Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole, will explore the unique,
regenerative powers of the Xenopus frog and discuss its connection to
breakthroughs in human tissue engineering, cancer research, and
understanding birth defects.
10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Fantastic Frogs (Kids ages 4-12)
Discover the life cycle of these aquatic amphibians through stories,
games, hands-on explorations, and crafts.
Noon - 1 p.m. Discovery Hike (All)
1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Teeming Toads Workshop (Families with kids ages 6-10,
younger siblings welcome)
Learn how to help the spade foot toad population with headstart
activities. Find out how scientists collect eggs, care for, and release
young toads, create new toad habitat, and keep track of the new toad
population in the wild.
3 - 4 p.m. Discovery Hike (All)
Saturday, March 26
Sanctuary Science Saturday: Oyster Reef Restoration
10 - 11 a.m. Oyster Reef Restoration for Families
Learn how oyster reefs create important marine habitat with stories,
games, and hands-on explorations. Build your own reef ball! Best for
kids ages 6-10. Younger siblings welcome.
1:30 - 3 p.m. Oyster Reef Restoration for Adults
Science Coordinator Mark Faherty's presentation will introduce you to
all aspects of our wild oyster reef restoration project. Learn how you
can get involved as a volunteer!
Programs are free with membership or sanctuary admission. Participants
are welcome to register in advance or drop-in. Programs are filled on a
first-come, first-served basis. Please call 508-349-2615 or visit our
