Join us this Wednesday at Sandy Neck...
 
Sandy Neck Piping Plover & Turtle Walk
Wednesday, June 15
10am - 12n  

  
Join BLT, Sandy Neck Shorebird Monitor Sarah Houlihan, and Sandy Neck Turtle 
Monitor Katie Heaslip, for a 1-mile hike through the dunes of Sandy Neck to 
the Piping Plover nests hidden along the front beach.  Explore barrier beach 
ecology.  Learn about the Plover's lifecycle and the conservation measures 
being taken to protect these endangered shorebirds.

As an added bonus, Katie Heaslip will introduce everyone to Bruce, the
diamond back terrapin turtle.  Learn about his habitat and the headstart 
management program.  Take an additional hike into the Great Salt Marsh to 
release Bruce back into his home.

 
Please wear sturdy hiking boots since the walk is over sand and uneven 
terrain.  Strenuous.
 
Parking
Parking is free for participants.
Meet at the upper parking lot beyond the Sandy Neck Gate House at the end 
of Sandy Neck Road.  Sandy Neck Road is off of Route 6A in Sandwich, just 
over the town line from Barnstable.

There is no fee for this walk.
