Miracle of Metamorphosis in Moths and Butterflies
With Tor Hansen, photojournalist, artist, naturalist
Tor Hansen, photojournalist, artist, naturalist, will discuss how to create
a butterfly garden highlighted by a digital slide presentation on butterfly
ecology and evolutionary biology. We will learn how to increase ways to
improve the eco systems to enhance butterfly diversity across Cape Cod and
get to know butterflies through familiarity and through their life cycle and
adaptations of their nectering ways.
Tor Hansen's incentive to study Lepidoptera began with early impressions of
swallowtails and skippers in the family's home butterfly garden. He majored
in Zoology at the University of Arizona and earned a Master of Fine Arts
from the City University of New York. Tor has worked at the Cape Cod
National Seashore and later as a caption editor with the Photo Library of
the Department of the Interior in Washington, DC. His illustrations are
published in the Cousteau Society's Almanac; in the Woods Hole Oceanographic
Institution's journal, Oceanus; in The Cape Naturalist of the CCMNH and has
co-authored CCMNH's Butterflies Across Cape Cod.
