Chasing Dragons and Damsels: An introduction to Odonates.



 

 

Odonates (Dragonflies and Damselflies) are fascinating insects whose
origins date back hundreds of millions of years.  Robert Buchsbaum, Mass
Audubon's Southeast, Cape and Islands Regional Scientist, will present a
slide lecture on the biology, ecology, and diversity of "odes" in
Massachusetts.  He will also discuss how Mass Audubon is using odonates
as an ecological indicator on our sanctuary system.  From tiny sprites
to large, powerful darners, this is varied and colorful group of insects
will be sure to pique your interest.

Barnstable.  Trails are open daily dawn to dusk.  Sanctuary admission is
