New England Cottontail: Disappearing Rabbit?
Tuesday, May 18 Meet at Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitor Center   6:30 - 8:30

The New England Cottontail rabbit has experienced serious declines in population due to habitat loss and possible competition with the introduced, and much more common, Eastern Cottontail rabbit.  The public is invited to an illustrated talk on this mammal's status, habitat needs, and biology at the Waquoit Bay Reserve Visitor Center on Tuesday, May 18 at 6:30 presented by the Reserve's Stewardship Coordinator, Jim Rassman. He will also describe the Reserve's ongoing monitoring  and study of the species.   The indoor program will be followed by a field visit to New England Cottontail habitat a short walk from the Visitor Center.
