Upcoming Events at Waquoit Bay Reserve

Wednesday, June 30: South Cape Beach Walk Focuses on Emerging Forest 9 am
Recent storms have removed tons of sand to reveal the long hidden and buried remains of what was once a coastal plain forest that may be hundreds of years old, on the ocean side of South Cape Beach. Join Dr. Chris Weidman and other Waquoit Bay Reserve staff members to view the emerging stumps and learn about the past history they reveal. Participants should be prepared to walk approximately two miles over sand (wear comfortable walking shoes, and bring water). Walkers will gather at South Cape Beach State parking lot near the end of Great Oak Road in Mashpee.

Thursday, July 1: Calling all Junior Rangers! (ages 8-12) 3:00-4:30 pm
Come explore the Wonderful World of Plankton! Participants will get to use scientific equipment to sample plankton from the water. Then, we will look at the plankton under microscopes. Please bring shoes that can get wet. Younger siblings are invited to participate in storytelling and design their own plankton. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the Reserve visitor center.
