ETHIOPIA PRESENTATION ON JULY 25th (Sunday night)

Ethiopia is a long ways from New England and it doesn't have easy access to
 the ocean.... However: Like
many developing nations, Ethiopia is suffering from the effects of global
climate change. Africans are concerned about other environmental
problems, including the problem of drinking water shortages.

A few weeks ago, the national Sierra Club sent me to Ethiopia to meet with
community development groups, public health workers, human rights
advocates, and others, to discuss environmental concerns. The question is very
simple, "How do Americans work with people in the developing world in
response to
problems like global warming?" What do Americans need to know in global
conversations?

I'm a member of the clergy with a background in environmental justice work.

I'll speak about the Sierra Club and its Ethiopia work during a special
Sunday service at the Unitarian Universalist church in Falmouth, on Sunday
night, July 25th. The public is invited. There will be a
discussion after the religious service. The church is located at 840
Sandwich Road in East Falmouth.
The Sunday night service will start at 7:00 pm. Information: (508)
457-0449.

Religious groups on Cape Cod are working together on energy issues, and, of
course, they continue their work in response to natural and manmade
disasters. On October 23rd, the Council of Churches will
sponsor a meeting in Orleans that will focus more attention on the
religious response to energy and environmental justice concerns. More
information is available from the Council of Churches.
