Mass Audubon's Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is hosting a lecture:

"Plovers in the Fast Lane: Bahamas to Cape Cod"
Dr. Cheri Gratto-Trevor of Environment Canada
Wednesday, July 7, 7:30 p.m.

Birders up and down the East Coast are watching for color-banded piping plovers, part of research done by Dr. Cherie Gratto-Trevor of Environment Canada. To date, thirteen banded plovers that were tagged in the Bahamas have shown up on Cape Cod beaches, including several who remained to nest. Why so much interest in a few birds with colorful bracelets? Banding provides valuable information about their migrations, their patterns of distribution on wintering grounds vs. breeding grounds, mate selection, and much more. In this talk, Dr. Gratto-Trevor will share project information, its successes, and importance.

The talk is open to the public. Admission is $3 for Mass Audubon members and $5 non-members. Registration is not required.
