A workshop for local officials brought to you by the Waquoit Bay Reserve
Coastal Training Program (CTP)
 
The popular Waquoit Bay Reserve Wastewater Workshop Series started last
fall is back!  The series will resume this month with this workshop
focusing on the regulatory requirements that direct municipal and
regional wastewater projects.
 
Workshop Description:
 

This workshop will break-down the complex regulatory framework within
which municipal and regional wastewater planning efforts occur in
Massachusetts.  It will explain important state and local regulatory
requirements that municipalities must meet on the way to getting a
Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plan developed, approved and
ultimately implemented.  Representatives from the Department of
Environmental Protection, the Massachusetts Environmental Policy Act
(MEPA) Office and the Cape Cod Commission will explain each agency's
review process, and how these could impact wastewater projects.  In
addition, a seasoned wastewater engineer and a public works director
will both share lessons from their experience of working on wastewater
facilities projects that other towns can apply to their own context.
Participants will leave with a very clear understanding of the
regulatory context within which wastewater planning efforts take place,
as well as strategies to navigate the legal aspects. A detailed agenda
will be released next week.

 

Who should attend: Selectmen,town administrators, wastewater committees,
planning and health boards, conservation commissions, finance
committees, DPW directors, engineers, and environmental non-profits.
