The Waquoit Bay Reserve is hoping to find someone in the community
willing to help us redesign the "Rain Drop Journey" outdoor exhibit at
Reserve Headquarters. This is a Rube Goldberg type of device where
people put a raindrop (small ball) in one end and follow it as it
travels through a simulated watershed. One element of the exhibit
involves the raindrops (small balls) moving from a lower level to a
higher one when kids/people turn a crank that operates a chain driven
gear. This element of the exhibit has been numerous times when children
overcrank the device.
If you would like to help us redesign this aspect of the exhibit, so
children are not frustrated when they go to use it, please contact me at
the Reserve. It is not rocket science, but it does require some
understanding of mechanical devices.
