The Cape Cod National Seashore is conducting a wind feasibility study at the
Highlands Center in North Truro for a potential wind turbine. As part of
the study, bird surveys are taking place in potential turbine locations.
More volunteers are needed who have experience in birding.

The seashore is looking to conduct 5 focal surveys a month. Sessions occur
during the day and last 30 minutes- 2 hours (depending on volunteer's
availability and fatigue). Work consists of standing in the designated area
with binoculars and recording the birds that pass within an approx. 300 foot
radius. Observer would note the species and approximate height of flight of
each bird that passed through that zone.

If interested in volunteering, contact Erin Der-McLeod at
edermcleod at gmail.com or 508-957-0703 (wed and thurs) for more information.
