Bob,

In September there is to be a symopsium held in Darwin, NW Australia in which the world's scientific communities and others honor the Great Darwin and his accomplishments. I don't have details and costs yet but will fill you in when I do.

A close friend, long deceased, may also be honored at the same time. If the economy and health allow I would to go.

Cheers, Jack Pearce

FEBRUARY IS A VERY SPECIAL MONTH FOR BIOLOGISTS

Charles Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, in Shrewsbury, England.

A variety of community, scientific, and religious organizations on the coast of New England will celebrate Darwin's 200th birthday during the year 2009. What's happening in your town or school?

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1st: The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Falmouth, Massachusetts, will start the Darwin celebration on Cape Cod.... The Sunday service will express support for Darwin's theories while reaffirming support for "the greening of religion." Rev. Robert Murphy will be the speaker.

The Sunday service starts at 9:30 am. The church is located at 840 Sandwich Road, in East Falmouth...
The building is easily accessible for people with disabilities. Child care will be provided.... In honor of Darwin's birthday, a birthday cake will be served on Sunday, February 1st.... People of all faith traditions are invited and agnostics, freethinkers, atheists, and skeptics, too, will be welcomed to the grand event.

The Unitarian Universalists in Falmouth have planned several Darwin-related events. Contact the church office for additional information. Telephone: (508) 457-0449.
