IFAW Marine Mammal Rescue & Research
With Pete Holster & Misty Niemeyer
Friends of CCMNH members/free, guests/$3
Peter Holster & Misty Niemeyer's talk will focus on marine mammal rescue and
research, both locally and internationally. They will discuss local
species: unusual visitors to our shores and techniques used for rescue and
research. Discussion will also focus on the two-part role of the
IFAW/Marine Mammal Rescue & Research Program in the global community. Part
of that role is in the sharing of research results: in addition their staff
is involved in teaching rescue and research protocols and techniques as well
as assisting with animal stranding events in many different locations.
Peter Holster is a volunteer member of IFAW/Marine Mammal Rescue & Research,
and is currently serving as the Volunteer Coordinator for Education and
Outreach.
Misty Niemeyer is part of a marine mammal stranding team which responds to
all live and dead marine mammals that strand on Cape Cod and the South
Coast, her primary role in the team is as the Necropsy Coordinator.
