150 years of changes in "Thoreau's landscape" explored in new book:
Author Presentation & Book signing at Mass Audubon
Saturday, June 28, 7 p.m.

"Searching for Thoreau", a compilation of essays by Tom Slayton, vividly transports the reader to the places in New England that were most important to the great American writer/naturalist Henry David Thoreau, including the shores of Cape Cod. Slayton traveled to these locations and recounts his first-hand experiences, comparing them to Thoreau s from 150 years earlier and reflecting on the changes.

Author Tom Slayton will be returning to the Cape again to give a presentation and book signing at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary on Saturday, June 28 at 7 p.m.

Tom Slayton, editor-in-chief of Vermont Life Magazine from 1986-2007 and a long-time commentator for Vermont Public Radio, has published books on various subjects related to travel, art, and literature, including Sabra Field, the Art of Place. He has spent more than 30 years studying the works of Henry David Thoreau and traveling to places associated with him. He has given public presentations and published articles on those travels. Mr. Slayton is a member of the Green Mountain Club, the Appalachian Mountain Club and the 4,000-footers Club of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

Cost for the presentation is $8 for Mass Audubon members and $10 for non-members. Books will be available for purchase. Registration is not required, but recommended. For more information contact the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary at 508-349-2615.
