Suburban Howls: the Ecology and Behavior of Eastern Coyotes

The Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve continues the
Evenings on the Bluff Series with a program and book signing Suburban
Howls: the Ecology and Behavior of Eastern Coyotes in Eastern
Massachusetts presented by Dr. Jonathan Way. The program is Tuesday,
July 29th at 6:30 PM overlooking beautiful Waquoit Bay.

Very little is known about coyotes in suburban and urban settings, but
Jonathan Way's research has provided insight into these fascinating,
highly successful predators. Dr. Way obtained his Ph.D. at Boston
College where he combined science and educational issues associated with
the creatures. He has also hand-raised a group of coyotes, which are a
valuable asses to both the science and educational components of his
work. Jonathan will show his radio-telemetry equipment he uses to track
these ubiquitous animals which can be found in pristine wilderness as
well as urban areas. Learn about their habits and habitat and how this
animal uses our coastal areas. He will also clear up the misconceptions
we humans have of this creature.

The program will be held at the Reserve's headquarters located at 149
Waquoit Highway (Route 28) on the bluff overlooking Waquoit Bay. In the
event of rain, the program will be held under our tent. Bring a chair
and picnic dinner and enjoy the view. Donations are welcome. Assistive
listening devices are available for all of our programs. We will also be
happy to request a sign language interpreter for any of our programs.
