On Saturday, May 24 the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will
present a special free MARITIME DAYS program: 10 AM Mudflat Mania and 1 PM
The Cape Cod Stranding Network/IFAW and The National Marine Life Center.
Everyone bring a lunch and spend the day! Lemonade provided.

Learn about your marine animal neighbors: the invertebrates of the Brewster
mudflats and the marine mammals and sea turtles that strand along coastal
Cape Cod.

One of our most popular programs "Mudflat Mania" is a beachside exploration
where visitors learn about the fascinating world of animals that live in and
on the flats. Bring a pail and notebook, wear water shoes and add an
eagerness to learn about the Brewster mudflats with a Museum naturalist.

Katie Touhey, Executive Director and Senior Scientist of the Cape Cod
Stranding Network/IFAW, will speak on what marine mammals strand, efforts to
rescue and rehabilitate them, and how the public can help both the animals
and scientists studying their behavior.

Kathy Zagzebski, President and Executive Director of The National Marine
Life Center, will describe the exciting growth of this rehabilitation
facility in Buzzards Bay and how stranded marine mammals and turtles are
cared for and released.

This presentation will feature a "show and tell" demonstration creating a
mock stranding utilizing actual rescue gear. Cape Cod is one of the premier
stranding areas for marine life in the world. Learn what you can do when you
find a stranded mammal.
