WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF OUR COASTAL WETLANDS?
JOHN M. TEAL, LEADING EXPERT ON SALT MARSHES TO SPEAK AT THE MARION
NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM
MAY 9TH, AT 7:00 P.M.
The Marion Natural History Museum is proud to sponsor an illustrated
talk by WHOI scientist emeritus, John Teal. Dr. Teal is the author of
the classic book, Life and Death of the Salt Marsh, which explained the
important role of salt marshes in coastal ecology.
Dr. Teal's current efforts involve constructed wetlands for wastewater
treatment and marsh restoration in fresh, brackish and salt wetlands.
Since 2002, he has worked on a salt marsh restoration project in
Delaware Bay that encompasses 32 square miles.
Please join us as we learn from this distinguished scientist about the
outlook for our own coastal environment during the seasonal reawakening
of our wetlands and the return of migratory birds and fish. Ample time
will be provided for questions and informal discussion during
refreshments following Dr. Teal's talk.
The suggested donation to the museum for this presentation is $5.00 for
non-members.
MARION NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUM IS LOCATED AT 8 SPRING STREET, MARION
