A HONEY OF A TIME

AT THE CAPE COD MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: September 24, 2007

Contact: Julie O'Neil 508-896-3867 or adminsupport at ccmnh.org

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will celebrate its second annual
Honey Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 13 from 3-5 PM. Admission for
adults is $7.00 ($5.00 for museum members), $2.00 for children.

The museum's own honey will be for sale and recipes using honey will be
available. Refreshments will be served, including mead, wine, a
non-alcoholic punch, and, of course, homemade bread and honey.

Our resident apiculturist George Muhlebach will explain the process of
extracting honey from the hive, as well as present a brief history of the
bee program at CCMNH. He will also speak on the recent phenomenon of Colony
Collapse Disorder (CCD).

Thanks to George and his intrepid assistants, the bee project got underway
in Spring 2006. The museum now has both an indoor glass-enclosed observation
hive and three outdoor hives in a quiet location a short walk from the south
parking lot.

History, 508-896-3867, Ext. 129.
