HONORING EMERGENCY WORKERS ON 9/11

In an era of global warming and oil spills, it's important to remember the
Coast Guard and the emergency workers who respond to problems on the coast.
In the years ahead, we may need these professionals more than ever and
they'll need our continued support.

On Tuesday, September 11th, at noon, there will be a gathering on the
village green in Falmouth, Massachusetts, to say "thank you" to the Coast Guard and
local emergency workers. The town's fire and police departments will
have speakers present. The Medical Reserve Corps, the American Red Cross, and
Falmouth Hospital will be represented.

This is an annual event on Cape Cod and the public is invited. There will
be some reflection on the 9/11 events of the year 2001, and, also, there will
be some brief reflection on future problems that coastal and island
communities face. Environmentalists, scientists, and planners who are involved with
coastal studies are encouraged to join the gathering.

Falmouth has had an interfaith 9/11 gathering every year, starting in 2001.
This year's event is sponsored by the Upper Cape Chaplaincy, which is the
interfaith organization that provides chaplaincy services at Falmouth
Hospital. For additional information, call Robert Murphy. Telephone: (508)
457-0449.
