"Coastal Conservation Training: Making Decisions Based on Law and Science"

The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions (MACC)
is pleased to offer this new, full day workshop for Conservation
Commissioners, Agents and Administrators, in partnership with MA
CTP (Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, the Massachusetts
Office of Coastal Zone Management, and Woods Hole Sea Grant).

This workshop is for anyone who desires a solid grounding in the unique 
aspects
of protecting coastal wetlands and landforms under the Massachusetts
Wetlands Protection Act.

Topics to be examined during the workshop will include:
-- Coastal processes and resulting landform changes
-- Coastal resource areas: definitions, functions and performance standards
-- Applying the performance standards through project review
-- Who's who in the coastal community
-- Sources of Conservation Commission's legal authority
-- Conservation Commission jurisdiction
-- A primer on glacial geology of the Massachusetts Coast
