Please join us for an exciting ocean science workshop at Woods Hole 
Oceanographic Institution, for a presentation about using sediment cores 
to find and investigate ancient hurricanes, and what it can reveal about 
climate, the ocean, and El Nino.

**Tempests in the Sand: finding ancient hurricanes in the geologic record**
by: Jonathan Woodruff, doctoral student in the Geology and Geophysics 
Department

Learn how geologists study storms of the distant past from the clues 
left behind in the sediment, and how the past can point toward climate 
in the future.
