ENERGY AND PEACE EVENTS ON CAPE COD
In December, Al Gore and representatives of the Intergovernmental Panel on
Climate Change will step forward to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, because of
their work in response to the continuing problem of global warming.... On
Cape Cod, several community events are scheduled for December and early
January that will address the issues of energy, peacemaking, and human rights.....
All of these events are open to the public.....
DECEMBER 1st: The Sierra Club's Cape Cod and Islands Group will show the
movie "Out of Balance." It's a report on Exxon Mobil's contributions to
global climate change. The movie will be shown at 7:00 pm, at the Unitarian
Universalist church, 840 Sandwich Road, in east Falmouth.... Free admission.

DECEMBER 10th: This is the day that the Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded.
It's also the date for international Human Rights Day. Several Human
Rights Day events are scheduled for Cape Cod... Check local newspapers for more
information....
DECEMBER 12th: The movie "An Inconvenient Truth" will be shown, in honor of
this year's Noble Peace Prize winners.... The movie will be shown at 7:00
pm, at the Unitarian Universalist church, 840 Sandwich Road, east Falmouth...

JANUARY 1st: "Here Comes the Light." Celebrate the first day of the new
year! Cape Cod people will gather at the Woods Hole Community Hall, on
Water Street, in Woods Hole, for brief presentations about energy, peacemaking,
and human rights by environmentalists and community groups.... Information
will be presented on energy conservation, fuel assistance, new energy
technology, and the problems of global warming and peak oil production.... This
community meeting on energy issues starts at 11:00 am. Free admission.
Everybody is invited.... At noon, environmentalists and others will enjoy their
traditional holiday walk around Eel Pond in Woods Hole...
