WOODS HOLE RESEARCH CENTER JOB POSTING: Research Assistant

***A unique opportunity working with large scale spatial data bases in a
high end computing environment***

The Woods Hole Research Center has a Research Assistant position open with
responsibilities in GIS, remote sensing and statistical modeling, in
particular, but not exclusively, for the two-year production phase of a
“National Biomass and Carbon Dataset for the Year 2000 (NBCD 2000).”  (See

Among other responsibilities, the successful candidate will be required to
manage an established production flow of processing, archiving, and
distributing large spatial data layers. The successful candidate will be
expected to process and manipulate large spatial and forest inventory data
sets, support the development of algorithms and source code as needed, Q&A
results, and work within a group setting to analyze and synthesize results,
assess accuracy/uncertainties, present results, including verbal
presentations and assistance with reports, publications, and web material,
and other tasks as agreed upon in the course of the research. Verbal
presentations as well as assistance with the development of
reports/publications and www materials are critical to our work at the
Center. The individual may work with more than one Principal Investigator.
