North Atlantic Right Whale Lecture Series

The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History will be hosting a six week lecture
series on the North Atlantic Right Whale. This series of special talks is
being sponsored by the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society (N.A.) and the
Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary. All lectures will be held on
Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m.
March 7, 2007 Grappling with Giants: Disentangling large whales and
understanding entanglement-Scott Landry, Provincetown Center for Coastal
Studies
March 14, 2007 Dinner for 50 Tons: A story of one of the largest animals
on the planet feeding on one of the smallest-Dr. Mark Baumgartner, Woods
Hole Oceanographic Institution
March 21, 2007 Whale Whisperer: Listening for right whales in the
sanctuary-Dr. Leila Hatch, Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary
March 28, 2007 Collision Course: Whale tracks and ship routes-Dr. David
Wiley, Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary
April 4, 2007 CSI Right Whale: A forensics look into the issues impacting
right whales-Dr. Michael Moore, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution
April 11, 2007 The Urban Whale: North Atlantic Right Whales at a
crossroads-Dr. Scott Kraus and Dr. Roz Rolland, New England Aquarium
The charge per class will be $5.00 for students and members of CCMNH or
WCDS, $6.00 for non-members. Twelve Professional Development Points are
available for educators attending all six programs. Each lecture will be
supplemented by an extra 45 minute session that provides resource materials
and ideas for classroom activities. Fee for all six lectures is $30.00.
Reservations by credit card will be accepted Monday through Friday starting
February 1, 2007. Reservations will close February 28, 2007.
