FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -
FIRST DAY HIKE - WINTER WILDLIFE WALK
Falmouth - Start the New Year off right, join friends and neighbors at
Waquoit Bay Reserve to cement those resolutions for good health and
exercise and to support our new No Child Left Inside initiative. This
1.5 mile hike will explore the Reserve Headquarters woodland trails and
the Waquoit Bay shore in search of wildlife and their signs. Recent
sightings include wild turkeys, coyote and winter ducks.
The hike will take place Tuesday, January 1, 2008, PROMPTLY at 12:00 and
will start from the visitor center. The event is free and appropriate
for families and all ages.
Dress in layers for the weather and wear sturdy hiking boots. You may
want to bring binoculars if you have them. Following the hike, relax
with a cup of hot chocolate compliments of the park. Pre-registration
is required by calling 508-457-0495 ext. 108. Use this same number in
the case of inclement weather on Jan. 1st.
This first day hike event is sponsored by the Department of Conservation
and Recreation.
