Post Doctoral Fellow – Terrestrial Carbon



The Woods Hole Research Center is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to play a
major role in projects designed to determine the carbon balance of forests
in the U.S.  The work will include three aspects: assembling historical data
on forest management and disturbance, handling large satellite-derived
spatial data sets, and modeling forest dynamics. The ideal candidate will
have experience modeling, managing large data sets, GIS, and error analysis.
Experience with Forest Inventory and Analysis (FIA) data would also be
helpful.  The position requires a high level of understanding and has the
potential for advancement in a growing institution.



This fellowship is an at-will position funded for two years with the
possibility of a third year dependent on funding and performance.



Start date: Fall 2006.



Qualifications:  A Ph.D. in ecology, forestry, environmental science, or
related field is required.
