Cape Cod Canal and Dinner Cruises
Captain John Boats, Plymouth Mass.
Sunday, July 16 and Sunday, August 13th
4:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Hello: On Sunday, July 16 and Sunday, August 13th from 4:30 - 8:30 pm,
the Captain John Boats operating out of Plymouth Harbor is offering an
interpretive program on the Cape Cod Canal from a mariners perspective.
Travel aboard the Tails of the Sea, a 110 foot luxury whale watching
vessel owned and operated by Captain John Boats. After you leave the
dock, travel through historic Plymouth Harbor and learn about its
unique history and view its many points of interest. Once past Gurnet
Point, we head south through Cape Cod Bay towards the Cape Cod Canal.
While on route, sit down inside the main cabin and enjoy a traditional
lobster dinner courtesy of Woods Seafood, a local seafood restaurant
located on Plymouth's waterfront. Enjoy lobster, BBQ chicken,
steamers, corn-on-the-cob, homemade clam chowder and fresh fruit for
dessert.

As we arrive at the entrance to the Cape Cod Canal, we begin our
interpretive program on the canal as we travel its length moving under
both the Sagamore and Bourne bridges until arriving at the
Massachusetts Maritime Academy. Then we turn around and head back to
Plymouth Harbor as the sun sets against the cliffs of Manomet.

Learn how in 1623, Capt. Miles Standish of the Plimoth Colony first
proposed constructing a canal through the isthmus of Cape Cod to
develop a waterway between Cape Cod Bay and Buzzards Bay. Later,
George Washington would investigate the feasibility of such a waterway
to provide greater security to the American fleet. Such a canal would
circumvent harbor blockades by the British. But it wasn't until 1904
when August Perry Belmont first took control of the canal and privately
funded its initial construction which began in June of 1909.

Tickets are $58 per person or $110 per couple.
Call the Captain John office at 1-800-242-2469 or 508-746-2643 to
register for this educational and exciting Cape Cod Canal Adventure.
