Focusing on applied, practical information useful to shellfish farmers
in the field

Management of Shellfish Pests
Saturday, March 11, 2006, 9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Blinn Hall, Massachusetts Maritime Academy
Buzzards Bay, Massachusetts

The second in a series of three, this workshop is intended to be
most useful to individuals who are raising shellfish -- either for
profit or restoration.

Shellfish farmers in Massachusetts know that fouling is a major problem.
Find out more about who those pests are and what other farmers do about them!
This workshop will feature Andre Mallet, owner of Lunenburg Shellfish in
Nova Scotia, who will share several methods he uses for dealing with boring
sponge and sea squirts.

Workshop is free, but pre-registration is required. Attendance is limited
to 50, with preference given to licensed shellfish farmers. Please contact
Bill Burt of Cape Cod Cooperative Extension by March 1 -- (508) 375-6702 or
wburt at umext.umass.edu. Lunch and beverages included.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

The workshop series is a collaborative effort of the Massachusetts
Coastal Training Program, Woods Hole Sea Grant, Cape Cod Cooperative
Extension, Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, and the
Southeastern Massachusetts Aquaculture Center
