Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary offers
CAPE COD BIRDER'S WEEKEND: COASTAL BIRDING IN SPRING
Friday thru Sunday, May 19-21, 2006
Spring birding on the Cape offers incredible diversity. Lingering winter
species mingle with northbound migrants. Sea ducks, pelagic birds, migrating
accipiters and falcons, tiny warblers, and returning shorebirds can all be
found on the coast this time of year. Field trips will explore the best the
Outer Cape has to offer with an early morning trip to Beech Forest in
Provincetown, a stop at Pilgrim Heights Hawk Watch, an afternoon whale and
seabird trip out to Stellwagen Bank, birding the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife
Sanctuary, and a tour of South Beach in Chatham. The weekend also includes a
slide lecture, dinner at a local restaurant, and continental breakfasts.
Accommodations are also available for an additional fee.
The weekend will be led by David Clapp. David is the former director of Mass
Audubon's South Shore Sanctuaries. He has led natural history tours around
the world. He is an outstanding naturalist, birder, and tour leader.
The cost for the weekend, including all trips, transportation while on the
Cape, and dinner is $175 per person for Mass Audubon members and $200 for
nonmembers. Cost for housing is an additional $75 per person. All rooms will
be shared in a private cottage located two miles from the Sanctuary.
Registration is required and space on this special weekend is limited to
ten. So register early!
Attached is a detailed schedule and registration form. If you have
additional questions please contact Melissa Lowe at mlowe at massaudubon.org or
