Due to distant hurricanes that are moving northeast, away from New
England, the National Weather Service has issued a High Surf Advisory
for parts of Massachusetts, including the Cape and Islands. The high
surf may lead to the formation of rip currents, powerful currents that
can pull even experienced swimmers away from shore.

To learn more about rip currents, including how to identify them and
what to do if you find yourself in one, visit
http://www.ripcurrents.noaa.gov/tips.shtml. The site also includes rip
current signs and brochures that can be printed (PDFs).
