MASS AUDUBON SPONSORS ANNUAL WHALE OF A SEABIRD CRUISE!
South Wellfleet, MA. Mass Audubons Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary has
chartered one of the Dolphin Fleets whale watch boats for a special cruise
out to Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary in search of whales and
seabirds. The trip is scheduled for Sunday, June 12 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30
p.m.
Bob Prescott, Wellfleet Bay sanctuary director will be the naturalist on
board the boat. In addition to looking for humpback and finback whales (both
federally endangered species), and Minke whales and dolphins, Mr. Prescott
will be on board to identify a variety of seabirds like Wilsons
storm-petrels, greater and sooty shearwaters, and northern gannets. Past
sightings on similar trips have also included basking sharks and ocean
sunfish. The trip leaves out of Provincetown Harbor.
All are welcome to join this annual cruise. And those who register for the
whale watch are invited to attend a lecture by Bob Prescott on Whales and
Seabirds on Saturday evening, June 11 at 7:30 P.M. at the Wellfleet Bay
Wildlife Sanctuary. Cost for the whale watch and lecture is $27 for Society
members and $32 for nonmembers. Space is limited and registration is
required. Call the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary at 508-349-2615 to
reserve your space.

The Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the west side of Route 6,
immediately north of the Eastham/Wellfleet town line. Trails are open daily
8 am to dusk. Sanctuary admission is free for members; $5 adults, $3
