Greetings --

Rhode Island Sea Grant has produced a science synthesis report from the
results of its 2004 Science Symposium on Nutrients in Narragansett Bay. The
report includes additions made by experts and respondents after the
symposium, and demonstrates the multiple perspectives that have emerged on
whether the focus is basic research, applied research needs, or the
engineering of treatment or management solutions. There appear to be four
distinct regions of the bay: the Providence River estuary, the Upper Bay,
the Middle Bay, and the Lower Bay, for which varying data are available.

To learn more, or to see the 31 key symposium findings, please visit
http://seagrant.gso.uri.edu/research/news.html to download the report and
cover letter.

The report is not a complete synthesis, as scientists at the symposium did
not have time to write detailed summaries that covered all facets of their
work. Rhode Island Sea Grant has contracted with a science press to publish
a more complete volume in 2006. For more information on this book project
or the 2004 science symposium, please visit:
