[SEMCO] VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Waquoit Bay (September 18th)

Volunteers are needed to help with the Saturday morning, September 18th, 
"Coast sweep" effort on Washburn Island, in Waquoit Bay, on Cape Cod...  Come join 
us! 

Meet at 8:45 am at the Waquoit Bay Yacht Club, on Seapit Road, in Falmouth... 
 Boat transportation to Washburn Island will be provided...  Wear appropriate 
clothing and work shoes.  Bring a hat, suntan lotion, and water to drink.  
Bathroom facilities and snack bars won't be found on Washburn Island...  We'll 
return to the Yacht Club "at around noontime."

The  September 18th "sweep" on Washburn Island is part of a major 
international effort...  Last year, more than 450,000 people removed 7.5 million pounds 
of debris from more than 16,000 miles of shorelines and waterways during the 
International Coastal Cleanup Day in September.  Seventy countries were 
involved...   In Massachusetts, the Commonwealth's Office of Coastal Zone Management 
helps to direct this annual program...  Check local newspaper listings for more 
information about what's happening on the beaches in your region...  Or
