Clean Power Now’s General Membership Event to feature ‘Noah’s Ark 2004’
awards: State Representative Matt Patrick will address critical issues in
keynote speech - Barnstable, June 7, 2004

A collection of whimsical but wise ‘Noah’s Ark’ awards will be given out to
both supporters and opponents of the proposed Nantucket Sound Wind Farm at
Clean Power Now’s upcoming General Membership Event.
According to Media Director Liz Argo, ‘The Noah’s Ark awards will include,
amongst many humorous and appropriate awards, the Giraffe award for persons
who have stuck their neck farthest out and the Ostrich award for persons who
have consistently buried their heads in the sand, etc.’ The meeting will
take place at The Manor at Craigville Conference Center, Craigville Beach,
on June 23rd from 5:30 – 7:30pm.

Keynote speaker at the event is State Representative Matt Patrick, who will
speak on “Unlocking the Potential of the Cape Light Compact.” Clean Power
Now directors will also detail the organization’s strategic plans for
impacting public opinion over the summer months, when the Army Corps of
Engineers’ draft Environmental Impact Statement on the wind farm proposal is
expected to be released.

Generous donations from Snow’s of Orleans, Country Gardens of Hyannis and
Cape artist Kathy Kleekamp will provide fabulous door prizes. Refreshments,
and a toast to Nantucket Sound for unparalleled beauty and the promise of
clean energy round out this night of nights! Children welcome!

Japan Television will be present at the CPN General Membership Meeting as
part of their feature story on The Nantucket Sound Wind Farm Debate and the
energy crisis in America.

Clean Power Now was founded in 2003 as a grassroots group advocating
renewable energy in New England and elsewhere, with a particular focus on
Nantucket Sound. In the space of a year, the organization has grown to 2500
members.
