[SEMCO] Course for Teachers

I would like to announce a three-session course in introductory coastal 
and marine science which will be offered at Waquoit Bay Research Reserve 
starting the last week in January.  Please pass the information on to 
your colleagues.  The course includes content and activities appropriate 
for teaching in grades 5-10.  Teachers may attend any or all sessions. 
PDPs are available.  I am attaching the announcement and pasting it into

Salt Water Studies

Teachers!

          What surrounds Cape Cod on the north, south, east, and west?

            What is teeming with creatures from microscopic to gigantic?

What covers two thirds of the planet, produces much of the world's 
protein, and controls our climate?

the  ocean, of course! 

Come learn about the composition, life, and motion of coastal and 
nearshore waters at a three-part course for teachers offered Thursdays, 

     January 29,

                             February 5, and

     February 12

from 3:30-5:30 pm at Waquoit Bay Research Reserve on Route 28 in Falmouth.

 
Class I: Salt Water  Sea water abundance, salinity, heat transport, and 
ocean technology

Class II: Marine Life  Habitats, plankton, invertebrates, fish, and 
marine mammals

Class III: Sea and Shore: Waves, tides, beaches, sea level rise, coastal 
water quality

Sessions will include classroom activities for teaching in grades 5-10. 
Content and activities will be linked to Massachusetts science and 
technology frameworks. PDPs are available for these sessions.
