Greetings!

The series of "Green Home and Business: Focus on Energy" workshops will
be held on Tuesdays in March (in the afternoon at Snow Library in
Orleans and repeated in the evening at Waquoit Bay Reserve in Falmouth):

March 2 - Energy Efficiency Makes $ense
The buildings we live and work in represent larger than expected
opportunities for energy efficiency improvements. This session will
explore the high priority, cost effective strategies for improving the
efficiency, comfort and green potential of your existing building or new
construction project. (Bruce Torrey, Building Diagnostics)

March 9 - Cruisin' with Green Power
Thinking about buying a new car and want to compare your options as they
relate to gas mileage and environmental effects? Simply interested in
getting better gas mileage out of your present vehicle? We've put
together a panel to discuss gas electric hybrid vehicles, biodiesel and
compressed natural gas cars, as well as easy tips for improving your gas
mileage today (Richard Lawrence, Joe Hackler, Mike Manning, Lisa Ayres,
Jim Atherton).

March 16 - Cozy and Clean: Heat from the Sun
Using the sun to heat your water can be very cost-effective. Learn about
solar hot water collectors as well as radiant floor heating and pool
heaters from someone who's installed dozens of systems in the New
England area. (Henry Vandermark, Solar Wave Energy) The Renewable Energy
Trailer will be in Falmouth this week.

March 23 -Electricity: Clean and Green Opportunities
Want to find out about a program to install solar photovoltaic panels on
your roof at a reduced cost? (Cape and Islands Self-Reliance) Interested
in saving on your electric bills simply by implementing some energy
efficiency practices? (Kevin Galligan, Cape Light Compact), Want to find
out about net metering, "The Grid" and other electric mysteries? (Bob
Bigelow, Cape Light Compact). How about a program where you can buy and
support the environmental benefits of renewable energy without actually
installing a wind turbine or solar panels on your home or business? Come
and find out your options for greening your electricity from a variety
of commitment levels. (Free compact flourescent bulbs will be given out
while they last.) The Renewable Energy Trailer will be in Orleans this week.

March 30: Cape Cod Case Study: Lessons Learned for Renovation and New
Construction
This past year, an East Falmouth resident completed a "green renovation"
on her home which included solar hot water panels for heating water and
her home, insulation beyond code and the use of recycled materials. Join
the owner, architect, contractor and renewable energy consultant as they
relate their experiences trying to match ideals with reality. (Joan
Muller, Jim Shipsky, Bruce Torrey, Tom Wineman). *
