Help Direct the Future of WBNERR

The public is invited to help define the activities of the Waquoit Bay
National Estuarine Research Reserve (WBNERR) for the next five years.
The Reserve is currently updating its management plan and is seeking
community input. The public is invited to express their opinions at a
meeting on December 8 at 7:00 p.m. at the Reserve headquarters on Route
28 in Waquoit.

The Waquoit Bay Reserve, located in Falmouth and Mashpee, supports
scientific study of coastal ecosystems, conducts educational programs
for children and adults, models environmental stewardship, and provides
recreational opportunities for hiking, swimming, paddling, and camping.

The management plan will prioritize and guide the activities of WBNERR
staff and volunteers over the next five years. The goal of the current
revision process is to assess the value of existing programs and to
develop a strategy to more effectively promote stewardship of coastal
areas. WBNERR staff wants to know what current programs are most
beneficial, what programs could be enhanced, and whether there are unmet
needs the Reserve can address.
