> The Massachusetts Bays Symposium
>
> On May 6 and 7, the Massachusetts Bays National Estuary Program
> (www.massbays.org) will host the Massachusetts Bays Symposium. This
> event will gather coastal scientists and managers, federal, state,
> and local government agency staff, nonprofit groups, and citizens to
> review and discuss the most recent trends in the offshore waters,
> estuaries, and coastal lands of Massachusetts and Cape Cod Bays, and
> to determine the steps necessary to further their protection and
> restoration. It has been nearly a decade since the last Massachusetts
> Bays symposia were held, and the scientific community is eager for an
> updated review of research being conducted within the Bays. The
> two-day symposium will address that scientific demand, plus it will
> help to steer the efforts of the Massachusetts Bays Program and its
> many partners as we strive to protect and restore the health and
> heritage of the Bays.
>
> The Massachusetts Bays Program will also be releasing the State of the
> Bays 2004 report at the symposium. This public-friendly report is
> designed to help citizens understand the major issues currently facing
> the Bays by presenting 14 questions and answers, as well as focus
> studies on specific projects occurring throughout the region.
>
> The Symposium will take place at the Federal Reserve Bank in Boston.
> Registration for the two day event is $45, including breakfast and
> lunch.
>
**The registration deadline is this Friday, April 30.**
