Managing Visitor Use in Coastal and Marine Protected Areas

As more people choose to live, work, and play along our nation's coasts,
coastal and marine resource management professionals are challenged with
balancing the changing demands of the public with the management of the
resources under their care.
This training workshop provides an overview of the human dimensions of
coastal and marine protected area management, offers examples of visitor use
and associated impacts to natural resources and visitor experiences, and
demonstrates applications to help coastal and land-use managers address the
people side of recreation resource management. The workshop will feature
national and local speakers addressing topics related to visitor use
planning, recreational impacts to wildlife, and regional visitor use
monitoring. Presentations will include:
