Shellfish Aquaculture in the Classroom

WHO: Taught by Dr. Dale Leavitt, Assistant Professor at Roger Williams 
University in Rhode Island, Ms. Bethany Walton, Aquaculture Specialist 
at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, and invited guest speakers who 
have had experience utilizing aquaculture as a teaching tool both in and 
outside of the classroom.

WHAT: Aquaculture is recognized as a very effective teaching tool to 
stimulate student interest in the sciences and other educational 
disciplines. The concept will be discussed and a number of educational 
activities using shellfish aquaculture will be presented that can be 
used in a wide variety of teaching situations to teach both with 
aquaculture and about aquaculture. Professional Development Points (PDP) 
are available. COST: $40

WHEN & WHERE: Monday, March 31st from 6:00 to 9:00 PM in the Harrington 
Building, Room 302 B at Mass. Maritime Academy.
