The South District at Cape Cod National Seashore will be filling 2 GS-0=
25
7/9 full-time, year-round interpretive positions. We expect to fill one=
of
these with an incumbent in the District. These positions should be
announced through the Office of Personnel Management(OPM) on 3/5/03 and=
will remain open for 2 weeks. Candidates without governmental hiring st=
atus
will be able to apply through the OPM office at the GS 7 and/or 9 level=
.
If hired at the GS 7 level, incumbent will be promoted to the GS 9 leve=
l
after one year in service (if all criteria are met).
Starting salary for GS025-07 =3D $29,044 for 09 =3D $35,537
Statement of Duties
Incumbents in these two positions along with GS-11 District Interpreter=
will comprise the permanent Interpretive staff of the South District at=
Cape Cod National Seashore. Park rangers will research, develop and pre=
sent
a variety of interpretive programs on multiple themes and issues, to
various audiences, including vacationers, and residents in the communit=
y.
In addition to providing interpretive services, these positions will be=
responsible more than one of the following duties: Oversight of the day=
to
day operations of the Salt Pond Visitor Center, including directing the=
work of the seasonal and volunteer staff who work there; program
development and outreach for community based programs; oversight of the=
fee
collection operation at the visitor center and direction of 2 seasonal
VUAs; and oversight of the day to day operations of the South District=
Volunteer Program. Both individuals will assist with the development an=
d
implementation of the annual work plan and with directing the activitie=
s of
the District's seasonal and volunteer staff, including auditing of
programs, providing feedback, coaching and training. Tour of duty inclu=
des
most weekends and holidays and minimal evening shifts.
There are 6 KSA's (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities) attached with the
announcement for the OPM 9. For those unfamiliar with National Park
Service application procedures, it is very important to document all
applicable experience under KSAs.
