The Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies will sponsor the following Canoe
and Kayak Paddling Trips in August 2003:

August 9, 2003
MOONLIGHT PADDLING on the SLOCUMS RIVER
RED MOON trip
Saturday, 6 pm ­ 10 pm
Meet at the Lloyd Center
$30 members / $35 non-members
This is always an exceptional event! Watch the sun set and the full moon
rise, as you paddle the Slocums River.
Rain date: Sunday, August 10

August 14, 2003 
"HEIGHT OF THE SEASON" WOMEN¹S PADDLING TRIP
Thursday, 6 pm ­ 10 pm / no rain date
Meet at the Lloyd Center
$30 members / $35 non-members
For women only, to enjoy an evening together on the water!

August 16, 2003
CANOE/KAYAK PADDLING TRIP to LITTLE RIVER
Saturday, 9 am ­ 3 pm
Meet at the Lloyd Center
$30 members / $35 non-members
Paddle east from The Lloyd Center around the rocky shores of Potomska Point
and explore the beautiful Little River waterway.  Loon, osprey, egret and
cormorant sightings are common.
Rain date: Sunday August 17

August 23, 2003
SPECIAL OPEN WATER SEA KAYAK TRIP to WEST ISLAND
Saturday, 8 am ­ 3 pm
Meet at the Lloyd Center, or at West Island by prior arrangement with Cat
Radcliffe
$35 members / $40 non-members
Not for everyone! This open water sea kayak trip to the remote conservation
area on the east side of West Island requires completion of ACA Coastal
Kayaking I (not offered by the Lloyd Center), or the equivalent combination
of training and experience.
Rain date: Sunday, August 24

To register for trips, please call (508) 990-0505, extension 21. All events
are led by Cat Radcliffe, the Lloyd Center¹s ACA-certified paddling
instructor. Lloyd Center naturalists will accompany many of the trips,
contributing their understanding and knowledge of our region¹s natural
history. Please go to www.thelloydcenter.org for updated information on
various outdoor programs and other projects sponsored by the Lloyd Center.
The mission of the Lloyd Center for Environmental Studies is the long-term
conservation of our natural resources through education and research, and to
inspire and empower citizens to make wise environmental choices.
