Did you know there are more than 400 freshwater lakes and ponds on Cape
Cod?
Most are kettle ponds, formed about 12,000 years ago on the heels of the

last ice age.  Today, encroaching development, wastewater, fertilizer,
runoff, metals, pesticides, and herbicides threaten these precious
resources
and our enjoyment of them.

Come meet the environmental agencies, institutions, pond associations
and
monitoring groups who are working to protect Cape Cod1s Ponds.  Learn
how to
become a Pond Steward and take part in a Cape-wide Pond monitoring event

this summer.

This Workshop will highlight the:

… Key Role of Volunteers in Collecting Water Quality Data
