This four-part course is designed to provide participants with a greater
understanding of wetland habitats and the regulations governing them,
mainly the Wetland Protection Act. Indoor workshops and outdoor field
trips will focus on the values of various wetlands and their associated
dune systems, flood zones, and buffer zones, as determined by the
state’s Wetland Protection Act. The emphasis will be on the biology of
these ecosystems and how our laws and bylaws can help to preserve them.
This course is especially useful for conservation commissioners,
planners, and citizen activists. It is held at the Wellfleet Bay
Wildlife Sanctuary in South Wellfleet.
