Reserve Kicks Off Bluff Series with Concert by Alan
AtKisson

Waquoit Bay Reserve kicks off its annual Evenings on
the Bluff Series on
Tuesday July 11 at 7 pm with a concert presented by
Alan AtKisson. Alan's
original songs are by turns funny, entertaining,
inspiring and educational,
sung in wildly diverse styles ranging from
traditional to pop-rock to
big-band swing. The lyrics are full of wordplay,
poetry and creative
intelligence and deal with everything from system
dynamics to voluntary
simplicity.

Alan AtKisson, author of Believing Cassandra,: An
Optimist's View of a
Pessimist's World, has been writing and consulting
on advancements in
sustainability since 1988. His many clients have
included cities, government
agencies, Fortune 500 corporations, leading
foundations, policy institutes,
non-profits and community groups all over the world.
In addition to his
world travels, AtKisson has been the executive
editor of In Context Magazine
, senior fellow with the policy institute Redefining
Progress in San
Francisco (a group which launched a strong
alternative to the gross national
product indicator), and was co-founder and chair of
Sustainable Seattle, a
group whose work inspired a United Nations award.

Alan's guitar has traveled quite a bit, too. An
accomplished songwriter and
performer, AtKisson has three CDs to his credit. His
Whole Lotta Shoppin'
Going On CD features the song, "Dead Planet Blues,"
which, as Alan recounts
in BELIEVING CASSANDRA, helped him break out of his
own despair about the
state of the environment. His newest CD is a
companion to BELIEVING CASSANDRA.

The Evenings on the Bluff series, sponsored by
Citizens for the Protection
of Waquoit Bay, will be held Tuesday evenings in
July and August at Reserve
Headquarters on Route 28 in Waquoit, East Falmouth.
People are invited to
bring a dinner and picnic on the bluff overlooking
the bay before the
performance. Donations are encouraged. Assistive
listening devices are
available (please call 508-457-0495 x 107 to
reserve). We will request a
sign language interpreter with advance notice. In
case of rain, the
performance will be held indoors however seating
will be limited. For more
information call 508-457-0495.
