[Sea-mat] writing image files without creating figures

Yes, it is possible.  Install the vnc rpm (Virtual Network Computing) and 
start it up with some hokey display number, such as :1


vncserver :1

Then invoke matlab with the -display :1 option.  Actually you will probably 
want to invoke matlab with the -nojvm options as well...  After that, you 
should be able to create and save images as if a real monitor were hooked up 
to it.
