*Position Overview*

Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences is seeking a creative, productive,
and self-motivated individual for a two-year Postdoctoral Research
Scientist position to perform research in environmental chemistry in the
laboratory of Dr. Christoph Aeppli. This NSF-funded project aims to
investigate the mechanism of photochemical transformation of petroleum
hydrocarbons in the environment after an oil spill. The project involves
laboratory irradiation experiments in combination with advanced analytical
techniques. A preferred start of this position is the second half of 2022.



Screening of candidates will begin September 15th.  The salary band for
this position is $51,617 - $74,324, with a generous benefits package
including health care, retirement contribution, and paid time off. This
position is funded for two years,


*Requirements*

- A Ph.D. degree in chemistry (e.g., environmental chemistry,
photochemistry, analytical chemistry), environmental sciences, or related
fields by the start date.

- Scientific rigor, curiosity, and originality.

- Experience in investigating the environmental fate of organic
contaminants.

- A result-driven work style based on a high level of self-motivation,
initiative, and persistence.



Beneficial Qualification

- A track record of producing and publishing high-quality research.

- The ability to communicate and work effectively in a team.

- Practical knowledge in aquatic photochemistry of pollutants or the
analysis of oil hydrocarbons and their oxygenated products.
