Dear JP students/postdocs,

Corning Incorporated is hiring scientists who would be interested in glass composition research. Mineralogists (doesn't have to be high temperature) who like thinking about crystal structure and (any) property relationships could be a great fit, or someone who likes thinking about composition dependence of melt/rock properties (seismic wave velocity, conductivity, viscosity, etc.) could be an equally a good fit. Generally speaking, we do a lot of experiments, so an experimental background is beneficial, but not required. I am reaching out to this community because Corning values diverse skillsets/viewpoints, even mine as a someone who mostly worked on stable isotopes/trace elements in meteorites. Attached below are the calls for the jobs.

Besides these jobs, we are always looking for other scientists, like those good with large datasets to solve complex problems, fluid dynamics, creative problem solvers, etc.

If anyone has questions as to what is like working in an industrial research setting or what is like being someone with a natural science-based background in a material science company, please feel free to contact me with questions.

Also, feel free to share this with anyone in the MIT community (or anywhere else) as well.

Best,
Adam Sarafian (JP class of '17... I think)
