The University of North Carolina Wilmington continues to hire faculty 
for multiple interdisciplinary clusters to strengthen its academic 
offerings and research mission in coastal and marine sciences. The goal 
of these efforts is to bring together a core group of faculty who work 
across traditional curricular and research boundaries to strengthen 
UNCW’s established excellence in coastal and marine sciences. In support 
of this effort, we seek a faculty member in the area of Marine Geology 
to begin in August 2019. This hire will join more than 70 current 
coastal and marine science affiliated faculty at UNCW.

Specifically, to complete the Coastal Resource and Energy Systems 
cluster, the Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences seeks a tenure-track 
assistant professor with expertise related to Marine Geology of 
continental shelves. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in Marine 
Geology or Earth, Ocean, or Marine Sciences. Research interests should 
include, but are not limited to, stratigraphy and sedimentary processes 
on the continental shelf. The candidate is expected to utilize 
cutting-edge technology, collect and interpret data, and possess the 
ability to incorporate these approaches into course offerings
