Hello,
I'm writing from the Department of Marine Science at the University of Otago, New Zealand to pass on details regarding a full time, confirmation path position of Lecturer that has recently opened in our department. I thought this position may be of interest to graduate students in the MIT/WHOI Joint Program.

The role
The successful applicant will participate fully in the Department’s research and teaching activities. They will contribute to teaching and student research supervision in numerical ocean modelling and/or quantitative physical oceanography. Candidates will be expected to develop an independent and productive research programme.
Skills and experience
• PhD degree in physical oceanography, mathematics or a related discipline.
• Active research portfolio as evidenced by high quality publications.
• Outstanding capability in teaching and communicating marine science.
• Experience in the application of computational models to a range of problems in marine environments.
• Collaborative and collegial in their work.
The ideal candidate will be motivated to engage in interdisciplinary research. We are particularly interested in applications from individuals whose research focuses on regional scale modeling of coastal and shelf environments, and integrates numerical modelling with ocean remote sensing or other ocean observing systems.
